Fiber is an insulating material that brings warmth to my soul and energizes me. Working with fiber allows me to create designs using traditional knitting techniques which incorporate color and texture. To challenge my boundaries of creativity, I break away from that tradition by adding non-fiber materials such as metal, stone, beads. Many would consider these materials inharmonious with soft fiber, but I see them as a way to add depth and dimension to my artwork.
My fiber sculptures are unique designs that span both realistic and abstract ideas. Most recently I’ve been using wool to make interesting area rugs. Made from wool, a durable natural fiber, my rugs are both beautiful and functional.
The world is full of ideas that inspire me in the creation of fiber sculptures. I enjoy working with colors, textures and forms of fiber that allow me to pursue a passion that has been cultivated over years of working with fiber.
